The Transtek Guide to Pelican Protector Cases

The Transtek Guide to Pelican Protector Cases

No matter the job, Pelican Protector cases have been the standard in offering your equipment the protection it deserves since 1976. No matter the mission; from keeping your cards, cash and keys safe and dry to transporting sensitive military equipment across a scorching desert, Pelican Protector cases are always rugged, reliable and tough enough. Whether you're a photographer, outdoor enthusiast, instrument technician, member of the emergency services or serving in the military, this guide is designed to help you find the perfect Pelican Protector case.

Why Choose a Pelican Protector Case?

Protector cases come with Pelican’s legendary Lifetime Guarantee of Excellence. They also
provide bulletproof protection (literally!) against:

  • Impact:
Crush-proof military-grade polypropylene construction absorbs knocks and shocks. Customisable Pick N Pluck foam also ensures secure 360° internal protection.
  • Water:
A watertight silicone O-ring lid keeps your gear dry even when submerged. An automatic purge valve equalizes air pressure while keeping water molecules out.
  • Dust & Sand:
IP67 rated dust (and submersion) proof protection against the elements keeps Australia's diverse and extreme environments safely outside.
  • Temperature:
Withstands temperatures from -40 to +99C so you’re covered anywhere on earth from searing outback heat to bone-chilling arctic cold.
  • Corrosion:
Resistance to chemicals, saltwater and other corrosive elements makes the Protector series tougher than the harshest natural or industrial environments.

Choosing the Right Pelican Protector Case:

  • Internal Dimensions:
Measure your equipment carefully to ensure a snug fit. Do you need extra space for Pick N Pluck foam padding, dividers or accessories?

  • External Dimensions:
Think about portability and storage. Will the case fit in the overhead luggage compartment, your vehicle or your cargo rack?

  • Weight:
Consider the weight of the case plus the contents when fully loaded.

Pelican Protector Case FAQs:

What Are Pelican Cases Made of?
Protector cases are constructed from Pelican’s own polypropylene resin formula. A honeycomb structure is then built into the resin during manufacture. The honeycomb’s open-cell structure increases strength, rigidity and protection, and helps maintain a safe internal temperature.

Are Pelican Cases Airtight?
Not exactly, but that’s actually a good thing. Truly airtight cases (if they even exist) can create a vacuum seal which can be very difficult to open. To get around this, Pelican Protector cases have a specially designed automatic pressure valve that uses a hydrophobic Gore-Tex layer to balance the case’s internal pressure while keeping out water and dust.

Are Pelican Cases Watertight?
Yes. All Pelican Protector cases are at IP67 rated to remain watertight for at least 30 minutes at a depth of 1m. Cases also feature a watertight silicone o-ring seal in the lid which prevents even the smallest bit of moisture from entering.

Are Pelican Cases Guaranteed?
Pelican products are truly built to last and issues with them are rare. Even so, every Pelican Protector case is covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty or “Guarantee of Excellence”. If you break it, Pelican will repair or replace it.
